Our market share has consistently improved

Our Editor had an opportunity to talk to Mr Alagappan. Following are the excerpts of the conversation held between Mr M A Alagappan (MAA) and

Mr Vinay Khurana (VK)

VK:

You have decentralized your assembling locations which were earlier set up at Ambattur, then at Nasik and now at Greater Noida. What advantage/s your Company visualise by this decentralization?

MAA:

TICI has been very proactive in this regard. We believe that this initiative would help us get much closer to our dealers and be able to understand and service their requirements more efficiently. The quality of products delivered to our dealers and eventually to end consumers would also be much better as transit damages would be minimised.

M A Alagappan, Chairman

Tube Investment of India Ltd

VK :

Has this policy helped the Company in improving its market share?

MAA

:

In fact we are one of the fastest growing companies in the bicycle trade. Our market share has consistently improved over the years and we believe that our proactive approach of getting closer to our customers has played a vital role in this.

VK

:

What all models would be assembled at Greater Noida facility and by what date it would be completely operational?

MAA

:

Noida would make all models that are required by the local markets. The plant is already functional. But we expect to fully ramp up volumes by end of Quarter II

VK

:

Do you intend shifting your marketing office to Greater Noida?

MAA

:

Our branch offices for the Northern Region would now be based out of Noida

VK

:

Is there any programme to convert your Durgapur Warehouse to another assembling point later on?

MAA

:

Our Volumes in the Eastern region have grown and we are definitely looking at expanding the capacity of the Durgapur warehouse in line with our objective of meeting customer requirements faster.
